@WA74 I assume you have tried a "reset" ?   It sucks to do that. Hopefully you have backed up your settings, but wondering if you have tried it.

It would be nice if they had a FAQ on dealing with issues such as this.

I went so far as to order a second router and controller, just to be able to test stuff on before going live. I'm sure TP-Link appreciates me buying more stuff, but the reason for it is not a good one.

@rickk1000

yes i have done the following.
1.) router R605 upgrade yesterday.... error comes as already described here...it no longer connects.
Solution: disconnect the R605 from the power supply

2.) today i got the message new software available. accordingly created a backup (i already had a very negative experience with the last upgrade to version 1.7.3).

then I selected load and upgrade....and waited ...after 30 min nothing....nothing

after 45min restarted also nothing... then reset and came into the default mask 192.168.0.253... and tried to go back to 1.7.3.
now i have a paperweight.

it looks to me like the upgrade doesn't work and destroys the OC200. i don't understand why this software is being released.

I would like to know if the update to 1.7.4 worked ?

my config : OC200 V1, R605 V1, SG2210P V3.2 / update from 1.7.3 to 1.7.4 does not work = OC200 brick

@WA74 When all was said and done, it did work. It didn't do much to make it better though. They promised to restore the coverage area thing in the maps on the next release but that didn't happen.

Not sure why yours bricked. The only guess I could make is that you maybe stopped it before it ws done? It did seem to take a while... I forget how long. I just kept refreshing my browser until the login page returned.   I did see it show up on my network before that with a network scanning tool on my phone.

@rickk1000

I think by next release, they meant next release of the software, 5.0.0. 4.2.11 has been out for a while only recently came out for the controller

Dear @Reconboy,

Did not realize the username and password for the adoption was different. R605 now connects as it should.

Thank you for sharing this information. Once the device was adopted by the Omada Controller, the username and password for the adoption would be the same as settings in the Device Account configured under Settings -> Site, whose username is admin by default and the password is generated randomly. I assume that the password was changed after the OC200 firmware is updated?

Dear @Cyclups, @WA74,

Sorry to hear that your OC200 no longer works after the firmware update.

The device may be bricked when there is an unpredictable power failure during the upgrade process.

If your OC200 still doesn't work after a hard reset, please try refreshing the firmware in recovery mode, refer to this post.

@Fae

i waited more than 45 minutes for the update. i think that's enough time for an update.

I tried that too, more and more times. unfortunately without success ....

for me
1.) make a back up
2.) disconnect the OC200 from the network
3.) do a factory reset
4.) update to the new version
5.) and then import the backup

this way works with an new OC200, just tested.

Dear @WA74,

Thank you for sharing the test results. If refreshing the firmware in recovery mode still cannot get the OC200 back to work, it might be a hardware issue and you may check the warranty for a replacement.
