Why channel 9 for 2.4 Ghz instead of 1, 6, or 11 ?

Why channel 9 for 2.4 Ghz instead of 1, 6, or 11 ?
I see that my Deco S4 has chosen to use channel 9, 40 mhz wide on 2.4 Ghz.
Best industry practice is to use ONLY channels 1, 6, and 11. Why does the TP-Link product deviate from that?
The results of the Deco diagnostic application (Deco app > Deco Lab > Run WiFi Diagnostics)
say that channel 1 is best, and yet it's still using channel 9.
