Model: VIGI NVR1008
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.0 Build 201224 Rel.40072n

Hello all,

I am using a number of Tapo cameras successfully, both in standalone (Tapo app only) and also with the VIGI NVR1016H(UN) 1.0  as a recording device.

However, I am having a significant problem with the VIGI NVR1016H. I can add my Tapo cameras to the VIGI NVR1016H and it works very well, however if I reboot the VIGI NVR1016H, or if there is a power failure of any kind to the NVR1016H, the Tapo camera streams never re-appear, until I manually delete each camera from the list in VIGI, and add them manually again. Then the video streams instantly re-appear. Even with the exact same settings I just deleted!

This appears to be a firmware bug that is making my Tapo/VIGI setup unusable. Running the latest FW 1.0.0 Build 201224 Rel.40072n

FYI - I have static IP addresses across my network and I am advanced in IP networking. This issue appears to be independent of my network and within the VIGI NVR1016H itself - It seems unable to "re-acquire streams" after a reboot.

Also,  all my devices have static IP addresses and my Tapo cameras are working with other third party devices, and RTSP/ONVIF capture software, without any issues. I am confident that the VIGI NVR1016H has a firmware problem, and I really hope TP-Link, or someone here can resolve this for me.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Cheers,

Pez

same here with NVR1008H

also seems to mess with the timings by an hour.

using 3 x Tapo C310 by Ethernet, Tapo app on iPad and iPhone, Windows 10 vigi security manager, and Vigi own control interface.

they don’t seem to be able to work together.

Hopefully solved timing issue out by 1 hour by changing Date/time settings Server address from 0.0.0.0 to time.google.com

It's really frustrating - I purchased all this TP-Link equipment after reading on the TP-Link website that TAPO cameras and the VIGI NVR was compatible. Please TP-Link, can you please look into this VIGI NVR problem and provide a solution? (MKC - I had not got to the time problem as yet. Good idea on the server address change! But I need this reboot issue fixed first!).

I have now come to the conclusion that due to the firmware in the Vigi NVR and the Vigi app that Tapo cameras are not really compatible.

i am running the Tapo app with the cameras and all works well. When I add the Vigi NVR and the Vigi app, somehow corruption of time is taking place on the Tapo and the Vigi app by 1 hour.

also I view the same motion detection recording on the camera SD card and all is fine on the Tapo app recording but the Vigi app recording is missing about 5s off the beginning of the recording.

I like the Tapo cameras, I also like the concept of using the cameras with the Vigi NVR but TP Link need to sort the app compatibility and the Vigi NVR firmware.

@MKC

MKC - I can see that this would be annoying for you. For my use case, the VIGI is only there to record constantly, while I use the Tapo app for mobile viewing and alerts (the Tapo app has been great, but I need to record to a central point, hence adding the VIGI).

If the VIGI would not keep forgetting/loosing the ONVIF cameras after a reboot, I would at least be able to use the system...

I agree with you, TP-Link need to quickly sort out these compatibility issues and bugs. I believe these are ALL issues within the VIGI Firmware (which is still version 1.0 btw).

As far as I am concerned, VIGI is "not fit for purpose" because of these bugs.

@TP-Link - This is a big problem! Please help!
