Model: OC200
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.8.0 Build 20210406 Rel.58757

I had to reset my equipment and now my 24 port switch (TL-SG3428) will not be adopted by the controller. It fails on password even though I have tried both the default user name and password and the password that was setup with it.  How do I reset this switch? The documentation is not clear on how to do this other than pluggin in a usb cable to it. Can I do it with a mac or does it have to be a windows machine using putty? Still need the steps involved to reset this.

Help needed.

Thanks

@gargantua

If the device can be detected by the controller, you can reset it from the controller. Go to Devices-->click the switch-->Config--->Manage device--->Forget:

@gargantua It's not adoptable so not configurable.

@gargantua

Oh sorry, as my devices are all connected, so I didn't realize this page. But I think you can try to log in to the switch's web interface via the password you set or the default password. If you can get into it, you can reset from the web interface. If both passwords are incorrect, I think you must use PuTTy on Windows to reset it because there is only Windows driver.

Here is a guide for you:

Except for the FAQ guide pointed out by @Somnus, you may check the following post for more detailed guidance.

How to enter the BootUtil menu to reset TP-Link Managed Switch via Console Port?

If the issue is resolved, I'd encourage you to share it with the community.
