Hello,


I would like to start with the following Omada system:
1 TP-Link OC200
1 TP-Link TL-SG3428
2 EAP225

 

Have now a questions:

Can I also connect and use an existing Netgear GS116E on the TL-SG3428 via a LAN cable?

VLAN should also work, which the GS116E can do.
Or do I have to use TP-Link switches without exception in order to use the Omada SDN?

Hello, There is no restriction at all to use any other marks into your network. These devices will not be managed by the SDN controller but you will still be able to reserve IP for those devices if you use a compatible SDN switch with DHCP server or a gateway. Those others marks network devices will be reflected as client into your SDN controller. I really suggest you to add a gateway TP-LINK with SDN compatibility to fully get the Omada experience ecosystems.

Hello, I need a 16-port switch, and the only Omada-compatible 16-port switch is currently the TL-SG2218, right? The (Omada suitable) switches are probably all intended for rack mounting, and most have the same height. My problem is that the size (height) of this TP-Link switch is too large :( The Netgear is smaller and fits the height exactly. I have to think about what I can do about it :)

?? TL-SG2218 is a 1 Unit height size for rack mounting I don't understand your issue.

I don't have a rack :) The closet where the Netgear is inside is only 40 centimeters wide. The TL-SG2218 needs 44 centimeters, so doesn't fit in :(

But if i do so, i do not see any clients or dates from the clients behind the Netgear Switch in Omada SDN, right?

not right, as your netgear switch is connected to the TP-Link switch. use the DHCP snooping or DHCP relay from your TP-Link switch to get the entire list of clients viewable into the SDN controller (this is for non usage of gateway TP-Link and others devices than the one connected to EAP) All clients devices connected with WiFi EAP will be showed into the SDN controller, even you don't use at all any TP-Link switch or gateway.

That sounds very good :) The TL-SG3428 should can DHCP Snooping, since this is the main switch it should work? Or do I also need a ER605 router, which is used as DHCP server?

Can i also display devices which are connected to the GS116 via Lan in Omada Controller?
I can see the devices in the Map :)

But if i go to Device overview, there are no Data at Activity Speed, download, upload,...
Is that normal?
Or is there a possibility that something is displayed there as well?
I didn't find any setting there :)

Don't mix Client list view and Device view Only SDN compatible Devices will be show into the Device list Any other device non SDN capable will be see into Client List if they are inside the same Lan than your SDN Switch. Only Device directly connected to your SDN Switch will give you detail about stats like speed and activities
