Hello,

Just tried this firwmare out and downgraded back to 5.0.5.  I noticed that my access point shows a lot more errors and dropped packets on this firmware.  I get pretty close to zero errors and dropped packets on 5.0.5 compared to 5.0.6.

Thanks.

  @Hank21

Thanks for the update Hank, definitely looks like some people have been only reading the errors / drops since the firmware.

Having checked 3x sites today which I have updated the firmware within the last week, sadly I have been unable to recreate this.  The error / retry level seems relatively unchanged from before the upgrade, furthermore appears to be in line with expectations for 2.4ghz airspace

Screenshot below of the last 30 days, firmware updated just a few days ago.

Note this is a newish install site with just one regular 2.4ghz client and the odd guest, minimal traffic hence the low count (still around 10 to 15%)

Just as a reminder, I have (4) wifi IP cameras that are streaming video on the network.  I record all of these streams to a hard drive 24/7.  The 5.0.5 had minimal retries / errors / dropped packets.  The 5.0.6 has 10-20% retries / errors / dropped packets.  From this discussion there are 2 possibilities:

1.  One of the firmware versions has bad reporting.

2.  Reporting is correct and something is wrong on the 5.0.6 update.

The 2.4 ghz network should be loaded up.

Hi,

I can also confirm problems with V5.0.6. I have a lot of WLAN clients in use in the form of smart sockets, IP cameras, etc. Since the update from 5.0.5 to 5.0.6, my SmartHome has reacted noticeably more slowly than usual. I see that other sockets keep losing the connection to the WLAN and flash blue at the same time. In the recordings of my IP cameras, I see many gaps caused by disconnections.

Since I, like the others here, have not changed anything other than the update and have noticed such a deterioration in the WLAN, it can only be a problem in the new firmware. I will now immediately go back to V5.0.5 to bring peace and reliability back to my network.

  @Palm_Maniac

I've been running the 5.0.6 firmware for a few days now and can say that it does feel slightly slower.  Some devices are dropped in the night.  Other than my area getting hotter weather, nothing else has changed.

I am reverting back to 5.0.5.

I downgraded to 5.0.5.  Errors went down to zero immediately.  I will post an update if I experience any clients dropping out again.

I should post that I do have a lot of 2.4ghz traffic.  I have more than 30 smart switches, 4 ip cameras and some other misc devices all communicating on the 2.4ghz network.  5.0.5 was very, very reliable.  5.0.6 doesn't seem as reliable.

Also downgraded, reported errors/dropped also went to near zero (nearly 1000 to 20, dropped actually did go to zero).

  @calimansi808

Exactly the same here. Immediately after the downgrade, the errors went from over 70000 to almost 0. The cameras are recording again 24/7 without interruption, the SmartHome reacts quickly again and no longer feels so sluggish. For me clearly a faulty firmware.

Wouldn't it be good to withdraw the firmware for the time being so that it is no longer displayed as an update? I'm thinking of users who install the faulty firmware, but only notice problems later and can no longer associate it with the update. I also only took half the network apart before I could narrow it down to the update.

I have the same issue here with 2.4 GHz networks. Clients connected to an AP in that frequency band experienced drop-off, packet loss (streaming clients from) and were not able to maintain a stable connection. I'm currently downgrading all APs to version 5.0.5.

I can confirm that after downgrading to 5.0.5 the connectivity issue has been solved. All my Roon clients and other 2.4 GHz equipment wasn't effected anymore.
