Model: EAP620 HD
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.0

Hi,

We are using multiple EAP 620 HD v1.0 (US) and the latest firmware for them is v1.1.0, released back on 12/01/2021. These are for critical business operations. It's now 2023 and there has not been any new update for over 1 year. Is the product end-of-life? When can we expect the new update?

Thank you.

@nullV Yes. Same with other EAPs and Switches and so on.

Don't know why, but it doesn't look good at all.

And you can be happy to have an 620HD. EAP650, 653 and 670 have serious bugs and we're waiting for an update since months... So annoying.

@Spryde We have one 2428P V1 switch, at least it receives updates recently. Well, I say recently because the new burst of updates started from 09/2022, and a previous update was from 05/2021, so about 1.5 years with no updates. Meanwhile, OC300 has been consistently receiving updates since the beginning.

If Omada is for business, albeit small business segment, TP-Link better treats the Omada range as a real business products.

I got burned before, you never buy V1 tplink products.

Bought V1 eap225 and eap245, i think it only received a few updates and it wasn't even a year old, tplink releases new versons of the same products over and over at the same time abandon the previous version altogether.

@johnsnow88 In fact, it seems that all Omada EAP models are really behind in firmware updates. Only 2-3 updates in the span of 1-2 years then they jump to the new hardware version and abandon the previous one. It is a shame though, as TP-Link and Ubiquiti are the only 2 players in the SMB segment at the moment. TP-Link is cheaper, and have better hardware for the money, but moving forward, we might need to consider Ubiquiti for new infrastructure.

Although Ubiquiti firmware quality seems to go down recently, at least they release a new one frequently and address various bugs/vulnerabilities. It is a good trade in my opinion.

@nullV yes when wifi 6 becomes a bit more cheaper and I have more wifi 6 devices I likely won't buy EAP.

I'd rather pay more for unifi if it means proper firmware support for longer period, rather than buy new hardware every 2 years.

This is a business product and they treat it like a consumer product.
