Hi,

I've been using OmadaSDN for a year.

Used to have a WRT54, then three WRT54 with Tomato in "mesh" operation, so to speak, Then an Asus router with three access points, then a Fritzbox, four access points with several managed netgear switches, but I've never had anything as unreliable and unstable as my current OmadaSDN, and the whole thing then scolds itself as a business solution.

Several loop detections and port blockings are detected several times a week, then everything is not available again for a short time because it is newly integrated into OmadaSDN, sometimes hours later, sometimes days later everything starts all over again.

e.g. added a SG2008P to OmadaSDN yesterday.
No device is connected to the switch, only the uplink cable to Port1, two hours later I had a loop detection message on Port8 for the first time...
That can not be?

I switched off Mesh so that a loop doesn't occur somewhere via an EAP.

Have testet RSTP on and off, used Loopback detection or Spanning Tree,... no difference

Is there no technical possibility in Omada SDN to determine why this loop occurs?
It's a business system?????

What can i do, those loops are annoying sad

Here is a simple sketch of my OmadaSDN

I primarily get the loop detection on SG2218 port 15 and T1600G port 24, but also always on other ports.

What i forgot, the OC200 is still connected to the R605 port4.

Maybe someone has a tip for me?
THANKS wink

  @lukass2000 Could it be this ?

  @lukass2000

Sometimes the bad Ethernet cable may also make a loop, so it's suggested to check the cable that connected to your switch port 8(according to the picture the loop happens on port 8)

And yes if you want, you can try to disable loop detection on port config. If it is the switch "wrong" detection, simple disable loop detection on uplink/downlink ports will solve the issue.

@Tescophil
I have read the linked post.
This is pretty similar to my problem.
I also use a Sonos speaker, this is connected to the SG3428 via a LAN cable on Port3.

I don't understand, why do I then get a loop on the T1500G-PS?

What's the logic behind that?

@Somnus
The Lan cables are all okay.
The connections between the switches were all replaced with CAT7 cables last summer.
Has also done a specialist workshop and checked with appropriate equipment, was not a hobby project by myself laugh
So I don't think there is a problem with the LAN-Cables.

I don't want to radically turn off loop detection.
That doesn't solve the problem.
There must be some reason why OmadaSDN detects a loop.
I would have liked to have clarified that.

As mentioned above, we are talking about a business system here, I don't think it's the solution, just turn off the error message

  @lukass2000

So a few things to consider... a bad NIC or a chatty NIC will fire off STP.

Also multicast devices will fire up STP also.

May want to consider turning down RSTP > STP.  Most devices play happy with STP.

  @lukass2000 Simple enoght to test, disconnect the Sonos and see if you still get loops.

From a brief read it looks like issues with versions of the STP and multicast traffic. Also, do you have WiFi enabled on the Sonos as well as the wired connection ? If so, this could connect to the AP on the other switch and cause a loop..??

Guess it was one of Omada "rules" to never connect a hardware controller directly to one of the router ports but rather to the first connected switch behind the router?

@Hoamboy
I have already connected the OC200 to the SG3428 and the SG2218. There was no difference, always loops sad

@Tescophil
Had a similar idea this morning, and so I disabled all EAP.
without EAP, no Wifi, no Wifi no loopwith Sonos, or?

This is the result

  @lukass2000 From my reading of the articals it can create loops all in on its own even without a WiFi connection. It's to do with how it uses the STP and multicast when it's looking for compatible media sources and other sonos devices, (which its doing all the time)

Like I said just unplug/turn it off and see if the problem goes away....

I'll test it and unplug the Sonos.

But it is difficult to check, sometimes everything works for two or three days and then there are days like today where I had 8 loop detections so far... sad

Which I still don't understand why do the loops appear on the T1500G-10PS?
Nothing is plugged in except for the uplink cable?
