Model: ER605 (TL-R605)
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.3 Beta

Hello,

Just upgraded to 1.2.3 beta this morning.

My ER605 is running in Standalone mode.

mDNS is finally here (see picture below), but cannot do very much.

I cannot specify a pair of values [Domain Name/IP] anywhere in the interface.

mDNS(Bonjour) cannot do that, nor the Services below let you do anything about that.

The implementation of mDNS is an empty shell. It is so sad.

Hello @IsaacGoldstein

Please kind note that the mDNS (Multicast DNS) is used to help forward mDNS request/reply packets between different subnets/VLANs. With this function, you can create a forwarding rule to allow the devices in the specified Client VLAN to discover the mDNS service in the specified Service VLAN. You can also specify the services to be forwarded.

It seems that your request of specifying a pair of values [Domain Name/IP] sounds like the Local DNS feature?

  @Fae

yeah, in my concern, i am talking about local DNS.

AFAIK, local DNS is related to mDNS.

According to wikipedia:

In computer networking, the multicast DNS (mDNS) protocol resolves hostnames to IP addresses within small networks that do not include a local name server. It is a zero-configuration service, using essentially the same programming interfaces, packet formats and operating semantics as unicast Domain Name System (DNS).

Anyway, my ER605 v1 does not provide what you call 'local DNS'.

It is very weird for a router...
