Hello,

i tried to figure out if there is any possibilty of Power Saving with EAP225v3. I have 4 EAP connected to an omada cloud controller. I would like to "shut down" 3 of the over night because they are only used in daytimes. Is there a possibility to do something like that? Or is swtiching off the radio the better way? How can this be done?

There is two options for this, both require a controller running

1.   Use the time schedule to power off the SSID during that specific time, this reduces the power used by the AP

2.  If you have a POE switch, use the schedule again to turn off the AP port during the time period, this will literally power it off..

Its worth noting however that the EAP225 uses very little power anyways.    Approx 7watts per hour, so roughly 6 cents per day (EURO)

@Philbert

1. am i right, that i can only switch off the SSID for all APs? I have 4 and would only like to switch off the SSID on 3 of them

2. I have a POE switch from netgear - so i think this is not possible - or am i wrong?

1.   yes this would disable the broadcasting of the SSID as a whole, therefore it would disable all the APs

2.  Sadly not, the netgear switch would not be managed by the controller, therefore it could not tell it to disable / close the ports as required.  For this you would need an Omada switch, something like the SG2008P

Just thinking out of the box here..   set some power adaptor / timer on the POE switch?    Have it power off when not needed and take the APs down too

Its a bit Draconian, but would work
