Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 5.9.31

ER605 V1 with  1.2.1 Build 20220512 Rel.76748

 

Connected to a Linux controller running the latest software 5.9.31

 

I don't see any of the new changes release in 5.9.31... which leads me to believe V1 is not getting these updated features. 

 

I can't find any documentation to say it is or isn't, so I'm asking here.

ER605 v1 doesn't support DNS over TLS or HTTPS options.

The controller only shows what a devices firmware is capable of.  Please install the 1.2.3beta version for the ER605v1 and then re-check with your controller.

Thanks for the replay. I've applied 1.2.3 Build 20230413 Rel.55948, but I have yet to see any DNS over TLS or HTTPS appear.

 

Under Site -> Services I have the following:

 

  • DHCP Reservation
  • Dynamic DNS
  • mDNS
  • SNMP
  • UPnP
  • SSH
  • Reboot Schedule
  • PoE Schedule
  • IPTV
  • Upgrade Schedule
  • Export Data

 

Also no additional DHCP options.

I'm in the same boat, ER605v1, beta firmware which is missing half the feature the equivalent ER605v2 has...  Could be it's there, but the controller doesn't know what to do with Beta software, of the Beta software is telling the controller it's really 1.2.1, or who really knows what's what. 

 

For now, your shortest path to secure DNS is to fire up a PiHole somewhere...and maybe use that?

  @Hank21 thank you for the confirmation. 
 

A suggestion on your documentation: call out which features are not supported on older  hardware version. 
 

On a side note, why is the v1 still being sold if it's not capable anymore?

How much time do you have?

 

-1:1 NAT in controller mode

-Wireguard

-

  @d0ugmac1 Really no wireguard? Despite copious mentions of wireguard being now available?

Jeez, what a carcrash. Such a gap between the capability of the hardware and the omada/ software reality.
