Model: RE650
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.9 Build 20201112 Rel 65232(6985)

Hello,

Can some please tell me whether there is a newer stable firmware for the RE650V1? Mine is on 1.0.9 Build 20201112 which is the one shown in the download. Somtimes it loses signal with the main router which is a Sagemcom. On another instant I lost the 2.4G connectivity with the main router whilst the 5G was still fine.

Regards,

Joseph

Hello, upon checking, your current firmware is the latest version for RE650 V1, so there is no newer official firmware for it now.

Regarding the issue you mentioned, do you mean RE650 will disconnect from the main router on both bands sometimes, or at other times, only 2.4G band disconnects?

When the issue happens, do you see the 2.4G, 5G and Signal LED turning off on the RE650?

Please check the router 2.4G and 5G signal strength at the extender location to see if the extender could receive a good signal from the router, if the extender shares the same SSID as the router, you could also unplug the extender first to check router signal, or change the extender SSID to be a different one for testing.

If the router signal is weak at the extender location, please try to move the extender closer to your router. You could also check if the extender is in the best location:

@Sunshine HI Sunshine, Hope you are doing well.

I had two instances whereby it occurred on 2.4G band and another occasion on both the 2.4G and the 5G bands. In the first case I was able to connect to the RE650 using the 5G band but was not able to connect using the 2.4G band. The 2.4G led was switched off and the signal LED was blue. I logged on the RE650 and I saw that there was no 2.4G communication with the main router but 5G was connected. Why cannot the 2.4G traffic from the device connected to the RE650 be transported over the 5G band between the main router and the Re650?

However, in the second case the 2.4G and 5G were lit but the signal LED was orange. I placed my smartphone just touching the RE650 and was able to connect to both the 2.4G and 5G broadcasted by the main router. Here I didn't log but simply switched off/on the router and thereafter both 2.4G and 5G were accessible.

Considering that this has been on the market since 2019 I do not foresee any firmware upgrade.

Thanks for replying.

Hi, thanks a lot for the detailed information.

For the first case, since 5GHz band is still connected between extender and router, normally the 2.4GHz client device of the extender should still work, if it doesn't, please disconnect and reconnect the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, then check if the 2.4GHz client device still obtains valid IP address from the main router:

For the second case, the 2.4GHz and 5GHz LEDs are still lit up on the extender, it seems that extender is still linked to the router on both bands, but since Signal LED turns orange, I guess it is red since no orange color meaning, it means the extender receives weak signal from the router.

Even though the phone still works with router Wi-Fi at extender location, it is still recommended to move the extender closer to your router, it might help with both cases.
