Model: RE700X
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.3 Build 20230419 Rel. 42054

The DHCP server is "Off" in the extender's configuration. In reviewing the extender's logs, I see that the RE700X is obtaining its IP address every hour from the main router. The lease time on the router is set to 480 minutes (8 hours). Some network devices (from what I've read) will request a DHCP renewal as early as half way through the lease period. So I could perhaps understand at 4 hours the RE700X might try to renew its IP. But every hour?

Is this normal or is it perhaps a firmware bug?  Of course it does not affect network operation but it does fill up the system log with a lot of entries.

  @Sunshine

Before reading your last post, I decided to do some more testing.

I disabled the RE700X address reservation in the AX55 just before the extender was due to make a renewal request.  After the extender IP was renewed, the AX55, displayed the remaining lease time as almost 8 hours (minus a minute or so). Then it was a question of waiting an hour to see what the RE700X was going to do. After an hour had passed, the RE700X made its usual renewal request, confirming what you stated.

I normally assign a static IP to the extender but more recently have been doing some testing with the beta firmware for the AX55. Using the extender in tests with various routers was made much easier by using a dynamic IP. When testing is finished, I will revert to a static IP.

Thank-you for confirming the DHCP client behavior of the RE700X.

Hi, could you please check the DHCP Client list on your router and check the remaining lease time? for example, here is the DHCP Client list for TP-Link router:

If possible, you may check it after the extender renews its IP address to see the remaining lease time is near 8 hours or near 1 hour.

In addition, please also check if any other client devices have similar issue when connected to your router.

As the IP address of the extender is reserved, the lease time remaining shows up as Permanent.

.

No other connected clients are experiencing this issue.

Hello, thanks for the reply.

Upon checking, the extender is designed to refresh its IP address every one hour, to avoid this issue, you could try to configure the extender as static IP address on the extender itself:
