HSGMII support for ER8411 (2.5G SFP)
Hello.
I'm requesting HSGMII support (2.5 Gbps over SFP/SFP+) for model ER8411 and other members of the VPN family. That would be a huge selling point.
There are some routers from TP-Link which already support HSGMII such as models TL-XDR5480 and ER2260T (as found via the list in GitHub: https://github.com/Anime4000/RTL960x/blob/main/Docs/2.5Gb.md#sfp )
This is useful for connecting GPON modules with SFP 2500baseX interface that enable >1 Gbps Internet service subscription, very popular in Europe.
Best regards,
EmuAGR

Hi @EmuAGR
Thanks for your information and valuable feedback.
I gotta explain that the products you mentioned are not the same product family as we have in your region. About the chipset and other specs, I don't have any information on that.
Even if these products have a certain feature, but it does not mean/guarantee the model you have would support that.
For your request, I will forward it to the developer team for further evaluation. Thanks for your love and support for our products.

Hi @Clive_A
Any update on this topic?
Technically, the Marvell CN913x should be able to do so.
I found the Info in the GPL Source Code.
CONFIG_TARGET_cn913x=y
CONFIG_TARGET_cn913x_generic=y
CONFIG_TARGET_BOARD="cn913x"
CONFIG_TARGET_ARCH_PACKAGES="cn913x"
Perhaps the ER707 can do it with MediaTek MT7981.
Is there anything known so far?

Any update on HSGMII support for the ER8411 or any other SFP/SFP+ enabled product?
Any switch etc.?

@s42p
For example does the SX3206HPP support HSGMII on the SFP+ ports?
There seem to be select products supporting HSGMII already such as the TL-ER2260T or the TL-XDR5480 besides the Archer BE lineup.

@s42p
Did the ER8411 or any other switch get HSGMII support via a firmware update or are we still stuck with the hardware potentially being able to, but the software not supporting it?
