Hello!

I have a little problem and if you can help me it would be very nice!

My goal is to be able to access my Jellyfin media server externally using the domain name (test.ovh).

It works externally, but not internally (using the local address 192.168... works).

My TP-LINK router is behind an ISP Bell Canada router. Unfortunately, this ISP router doesn't support NAT loopback. So, I asked the ISP to put the TP-LINK router in a DMZ, which allows me to have a direct external connection to the TP-LINK router and a WAN IP. However, it still doesn't work, and I'm wondering if you have any ideas on how I can access my server internally using the test.ovh address.

Can AX1800 do loopback?

Hi,

After multiple searches, the ISP modem router (Bell Hub 3000) does not have a bridge mode.

The DMZ mode which allows you to have an external IP (an IP for the ISP modem and a for TP-Link) is a degraded bridge mode, which therefore explains the impossibility of loopback.

I will try to change ISP router.

Check this post. The issue you have is probably caused by the ISP Bell Canada router.

Hi,

First of all thank you for your answer and your help!

If I put my TP-Link router in my ISP router's DMZ and get an external IP for it, am I not bypassing my ISP's modem? Or am I wrong in my reasoning?

Putting the TP-Link router in a DMZ on the ISP router means that you've opened all ports to the TP-Link router.

By bypassing the ISP modem you probably mean to configure the ISP modem in bridge mode, thus transferring the public IP address to the TP-Link router WAN interface.

These are two different configurations.

With the first one the ISP device is still doing a NAT, while with the second one it won't do NAT anymore.

Here's an example for configuring a modem in bridge mode.
