Cannot upgrade firmware from 2.0.0 to 2.1.2
I can't upgrade my TPLink ER605 V2 to the latest firmware 2.1.2
I tried this topic: https://community.tp-link.com/en/business/forum/topic/559150
but nothing works. As advised in the article I configured my firewall so the device can upgrade though the controller.
The controller mentions the availability of a new firmware but when I click the upgrade button nothing really happens 10 minutes later I get the message:
[Failed]Failed to upgrade VPN Router Menin Gate to firmware version 2.0.0 Build 20220106 Rel.56391 online. Please check your network configuration and make sure the device can access the Controller's HTTPS management port.
I configured a port forwarding for https: (via port 1024) and ensured that the UDP 29810, TCP29814 ports are all open on the firewall.
Any adivse would be highly appreciated. I give up for now. 2 days waste of time :-(

whitout this access upgrade will fail
and to be sure add this port to,
UDP 29810, TCP29811-29816

awh.. you never checked the port? 443.. this is nobody's fault but yours. something on your controller must be incorrect. you definitely changed something without even reading the guide..

Hi Tedd,
Many thanks for the useless answer.
I have 15 EAP660 HD(EU) v1.0 access points on 3 sites connecting via ER605 v2.0 over VPN to the OC200 controller in our office.
Everthing is working perfect except the upgrades.
I did read the manual as well as the forum(s), configured and tested everything but unfortunately until now no joy with the upgrades.
I'll keep pinging through the VPN tunnel and scanning for open/closed ports till I find the culprit.
Stefaan.

Apparently other people have the same problem: https://community.tp-link.com/en/business/forum/topic/581692

As I told you, router ned access to controller on port 443. router is probably not adopted in vpn tunnel but on wan interface, so you have to port nat from wan to controller on lan.
do port nat off all port you need,
tcp 443
udp 29810
tcp 29811-29816
then you can enjoy the new firmware.. ;.)

VPN Tunnel goes straight from ER605 to OC200 controller. Endpoint is the controller itself. In picture above you can see that all ports on the controller are open.
In that post the same problem is described:

Many thanks to help thinking.... :-)
