TP-Link ER605 MSS clamping

Hi. I'm having issues with PPPoE connection on my ER605, some websites just won't load unless I turn VPN on. I guess the problem is MTU, which is 1492 by default. However, setting lower values didn't help. I read that MSS clamping can be a workaround for MTU issues, but I can't find this function anywhere. Is it supported by ER605? Are you guys planning on implementing this feature in the near future? Thanks.

Hi @qazzz
Thanks for posting in our business forum.
ER605 is EOL and we don't plan to add any new features to it. So, the answer is No.
For the issue you encountered, I suggest you troubleshoot more. At least you should identify what kind of traffic, and any configuration on your network or router would affect this. Use Wireshark or other tools to find out the cause.
So far, I cannot give suggestions since this is kind of strange. No details about it. It could be your ISP firewall or ACL blocking you from accessing them. Similar to GFW.
If you expect me or any of our support to help you with this issue, at least, provide some more information. My guess now is this is not a router issue but a DNS or ISP strategy. Seem to be the VPN's only way to fix it.

Where did you get the information about the ER605 being EoL? I've recently purchased one and wasnt aware that it had gone EoL. What is the recommended replacement within the Omada system?
As far as I'm aware about the MSS Clamping, there is an option to set this via the Omada Controller software, but I'm unsure if this translates to the router as a standalone product.
Its under advance settings for the Internet Port. This is for an ER605v2.0 (FW2.2.4) manged by a OC200 V1.0 controller, version 5.13.24.

If you are making a question like this, make sure you have researched on the official website about EOL.
If you just purchased it, that's a stock item. We have stopped its manufacture for years now. Get the new hardware version of it.
Go to the support page, find the model you like, and about the version, what you can find is the latest one we are manufacturing.

What you have in Controller does not always translate into standalone mode.
For the firmware, the controller will display what it has. If your firmware does not support it, even if the controller is the latest, the option is hidden because your firmware is not adapted.

Sorry I might be misunderstanding you, as I checked the TP Link website and it doesnt mention the ER605 being EoL, or do you specifically mean the hardware V1.0 being EoL?

You are correct. The fact is my hands are tied on this matter and I cannot give you anything useful suggestions or push on it. As the reason explained above.

Yes, it is. The R605 was renamed ER605 later on. V1 of them are the same.
