Model: EAP225
Hardware Version: V5
Firmware Version: 1.1.3

Hi,

I have a Omada software controller running with total of 4 EAP 225 APs (v5 - FW:1.1.3) and one 115 (v4 - FW5.0.5).

The 225 do also have an 5GHz SSID enabled. When connecting to this ssid, the clients connect, authenticate and will get dropped after a couple of seconds. They pick than the other 2.4 GHz network and there is no disconnection at all.

I checked multiple times the settings in Omada, but could not find a solution for it until now.

Fast Roaming is enabled and Band Steering Disabled

Thanks for any help/advice.

Mark

  @Compumark

Are you running a single SSID with dual band (2.4 and 5) or have you seperated these into individual SSIDs?

If they are one, I would recommend you enable Band Steering and set it for 5/6ghz preference, see if that helps!    Its generally a commonly used feature if honest

No, they are two separate SSIDs, because with the combined it never worked. But maybe because the band steering is disabled, I will enable it.

But for my understanding, if they are 2 different SSID the option should not have an effect.

I would agree, if they are separate SSIDs then yes they should have worked for you.       How did you get on with band steering?   Have you ensured your clients are set to prefere 5ghz?

  @Philbert

I have not continued to "play" around with the band steering until the 5Ghz is separate working.

I might have found a clue - I have had configured an RSSI Threshold, like with the 2.4GHz network to -70. As soon as the config gets saved the clients are droping.

If I remove the Threshold limit, no dropping, bu the client will connect to the weaker EAP device accross on the other side of the building.

Maybe there is a bug - as it is working with the 2.4 radio without an issue.

Can someone test this as well?
