I want to access the console port. 
How does it work?

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

If I don't recall wrong, our product supporting the console connection, does not require SSH. I remember that all products disable SSH by default. Only when you manually enable it, then you can use SSH. If no, then it is disabled. Nothing to do with the console.

This is my experience and memory about the switch. I think it applies to the router as well.

 

Console is not SSH. Think this link might be helpful in understanding that.

according manual, Remote Assistance is for SSH access only.

you use an rs232-rj45 console cable, if your pc does not have a serial (rs232) port then you also need a usb-rs232 adapter.

 

note that the console port is limited when the router is in controller mode, you have the same access as you would otherwise have with SSH.

But do I really have to enable SSH acces to use the console port? If yes, TP Link should fix that. 

This is a security risk. There is no information about that in the manual. 
Regarding the cable, I am using the console cable of the package content of ER8411.
