Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

Team,

I'm considering replacing the existing router models ER605 and ER7206 with the ER707-M2 and have 2 questions:

(1) - is the ER707-M2 able to route at 1-Gbps wirespeed with all DPI and IDS/IPS capabilities activated?

(2) - what would be the recommended way to migrate?

(3) - is there anything else I should be aware off?

Thank you for your support.

With warm regards - Will

Hi @ITV

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

1. Should be fine with 1Gbps wire speed when DPI is enabled.

IDP, identity providing routing? We don't support it. Are you saying Policy Routing?

2. Just switch to the new model and choose the new model number in the WAN settings and migrate. When you choose the new model, it'll let you know.

The term IDP is a typo - should be IDS/IPS (or just IPS).

The DPI-capability as such doesn't do anything when it comes to security.

It is the IPS part that needs DPI (among a few other things) for being able to do his magic.

Would the M2 still be able to run at wire speed when DPI and IPS are both running with its full potential?

Regarding migrating from the 7206 to the M2:

Does this mean that at the time of the migration, both router need to be connected and online?

If you use IPS, then it cannot run at the full speed. Simply enabling it will not keep the 1Gbps speed.

No.
