Model: ER7206 (TL-ER7206)   OC200
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

When organization has in name non-ascii characters (like for example ščžŠČŽ), and I export of OpenVPN configuration file, the name of the file generated will convert all non-ascii (unicode) characters to _ (underline).

it is simple to replicate.

- use non-ascii characters (probably one could do it with any non-ascii characters) for name of Organization

- create a new openvpn server profile

- export it...

interesting enough - it will not use the profile name in under VPN->Name, but Orgaization name.

Ideally, i would prefer the name to use both and that non-ascii characters are respected when file name is created.

Hi @AntonV

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

First, you might pose this in the wrong section. It should be a controller issue. Have you replicated this in a standalone?

The exported VPN file should be the site name. I tested it and with the bunch of non-ASCII characters, it will break the file name into either "_" or unknown.txt.

I can verify that the controller can support the non-ASCII. My assumption would be the OVPN server built-in does not support that. I have submitted a request to the dev and am waiting for their evaluation.

@Clive_A Could be. I was not sure where to put it so i put it here. Thank you.

i have not done it with Chinese, Korean or Japanese characters, but I would assume same issue might be at play.

As for ovpn - openvpn client can nicely import unicode characters if use for file name.

Anyway, I will report it to the dev. The system supports the non-ASCII characters but the exporting system on the VPN does not seem to be capable of that. Hope they can find a solution and fix it soon.
