Model: ER7206 (TL-ER7206)
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version:

Recently, locally here my Internet provided started moving to GPON optical connection. So instead of having an uplink thru optics, i can only get internet connection as classic 1Gbit UTP cable.

Which means that sfp port at my er7206 become essentially useless. And that also means free... to use...

now, i saw some model that can use sfp as wan/lan... So I was wondering if htere is any plan to add an option for ER7206 to use sfp as LAN rather WAN. Which means that i can connect sfp to my switch for example thru optical connection rather as utp.

Thank you.

@AntonV With "no" you mean there is no plan to implement sfp port as lan, rather only WAN. ?

I mean alternative is to buy sfp->rj45 but that kind of beats a point ... Ah well - perhaps something for future models.... to considere...

A side not - with GPON internet provider - to physical clients at least - is not allowing any optics to be connected. So As said limited to pure RJ45...

Thanks.

Correct. This has been manufactured, if this has to be changed, it should be a revision. Or its hardware does not match the software, and that'll be a lot of explaining problems.
