I have 3 EAP225 (one EAP with version 5 and two EAPs with version 3) with hardware controller in a small network. Only the 5GHz band has been enabled  as i dont need 2.4 GHz at this moment.

After upgrade to 1.3.0 using omada hardware controller v 5.12.9, the AP lost the wifi settings. My devices (mobile phones, laptops, wifi adapters) scan the SSID for the 5GHz radio but  there is no wifi password or any encryption. The wifi devices found the SSID as open wifi hotspot although the settings are WPA2, AES with password. So anyone can connect to my network.

reboot the AP without result

reboot controller without result

recreate the SSID without result

reset the AP and set up again without result

downgrade to 1.1.3 without result (it has exactly the same behavior)

change encryption settings without result

create another SSID without result

configure as standalone AP without result

I found that the problem solved when i tried to enable the 2.4 band as well. If the two bands are activated the AP is working normally. If i disable the 2.4 radio then AP is broadcasting the 5GHZ SSID without password and encryption.

Are we going to see any of this functionality added to the EAP235-Wall?

Hi @JotaUve,

No, this EAP225 1.3.0 firmware is specific to the V5, and is NOT available for the V4.

Hi @geoeap,

Please follow the below steps:

1. Reset the AP, and make sure the default wifi name tplink_XXX is shown.

2. Create a password for an SSID with 2.4G and 5G both, and check whether it is working properly.

3. Create another different SSID with a different name and this SSID is only for 5G, and check whether the issue still exists.

Please use different clients to do the above tests.

@Hank21 Yes, I know that version is for V5. What I want to know is if it will be released for V4.

Hi,

the specific EAP is in a remote location so i dont have access right now. But i have another one here with the same version 5 which i used to perform the tests. It seems that there is a bug as i have the same problem with the second one.

1. Reset the AP, and make sure the default wifi name tplink_XXX is shown. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------done

2. Create a password for an SSID with 2.4G and 5G both, and check whether it is working properly.-----------------------------------------------done, it is working properly.

3. Create another different SSID with a different name and this SSID is only for 5G, and check whether the issue still exists. ---------------done, it is working properly as long as there is a 2.4 ssid enabled.

Please use different clients to do the above tests.-------------------------------------done, with 2 iphones, 1 android, 1 wifi adapter tp link nano.

1. delete the 2.4 ssid

2. disable the 2.4 radio

3. it has only the 5 GHZ radio enabled

3. reboot

then i  scan the 5 GHZ ssid from my devices but there is not any password or encryption. The wifi is completely free although the settings are WPA2, AES.

When i create a 2.4 ssid and reboot the AP works normally and all the SSIDs are brodcasting correctly (both 2.4 and 5)

I tried to donwgrade to 1.2.1 Build 20230824 and 1.1.3 Build 20230224 but the result was the same.

thanks
