Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: V1_1.28.2 Build 20240110

Today (02/22), I accessed the Omada Controller and received a prompt to update to version V1_1.28.2 Build 20240110.

I clicked on update, and the OC200 didn't reconnect to the network. It's been over an hour since the update, and it's still down.

Has anyone experienced the same issue? Any suggestions on how to resolve it?

  @Miletos

https://www.tp-link.com/no/support/faq/3114/

But first I'd tried a long press on the reset button, because if you don't have a backup somewhere, you're going to have to rebuild the controller from scratch.

My OC200 v1 is bricked also from the latest update. Had to order a new one.

I just had the same experience.  Hardware version 1.

TL;DR - It works eventually via repeat recovery.  Data lost.

Was on v1 1.26.3.  Using web interface, check for updates, it said new version available.   V1_1.28.2 Build 20240110 commenced.

It seemed to complete OK and rebooted, but did not come back up.

Our router gives the OC200 a static IP, but it would not show a web page at that IP and was unreachable by ping.  Waited 30 mins, no improvement.

So, removed the OC200 from the network, and connected via ethernet cable to a PC, and set static IP on PC to 192.168.0.10.  Tried to reach OC200 on its default IP of 192.168.0.253 but nothing. Again, ping was dead. Seemed completely bricked.

I tried the recovery procedure:

https://community.tp-link.com/en/business/forum/topic/270472

1. After reset button + power connect, could load the bin file directly and update performed.  Same as above, after the reboot, OC200 unreachable. No ping.

Planning to roll back.  However gave it one more try.

2. After reset button + power connect, could load the bin file directly and update performed. Again, unreachable on web, but ping was successful.  I held the reset button down for long press.  This time, after reboot I was presented with the setup screen.  It loaded V1_1.28.2

I didn't trust using a backup, so I reconfigured from scratch.

Wasted a lot of time.  I hope that future updates will be tested more thoroughly on all hardware versions before release.

For what it's worth, my OC200 v1 took this update just fine, but if I recall it was slow to migrate the old database..and there wasn't much going on at that site (and it's the backup for a Pi-based controller).  If you have a lot of devices/users/activity then you may need to wait an hour or two for it to complete the database migration to the new schema.  If you need it to come back as fast as possible, then take a controller backup of just the config+user_info, factory default the device, apply new firmware, restore settings.  That shouldn't take more than 10-15min.
