Good news, this feature is accepted and will be implenmented in next version of Omada controller.

Just tested this with the latest controller update.  The number of icons is very limited and hopefully over time the list will grow.  Some icons I would like to see soon are one for IP cameras, one for telephones, and one for NAS devices.  Additional icons added later should include various IoT devices, such as air conditioners.

But I can not find how to change the Picture of the icon. 
which Firmware version do you use?
