Model: TL-SG3210
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

Hi Newby here and not that technical. I was using my switch with my broadband fine (IP 192.168.1.254) but I have changed provider and the IP address of the new BB router is 192.168.0.1 the same as the managed switch. I therfore find I can't use it. I am getting a USB to RJ45 Console cable in the hope I can get in and change the IP address of the switch.
So my question is how can I do that and what should I change it to? I thought 192.168.1.1 but I have no real knowledge of IP assignment. I was given the switch by a friend, I wouldn't of bought a managed switch as my IT skills aren't that good.
Thanks in advance for any help
M

@Clive_A  Thanks again Clive, with the help of an IT friend I have changed the IP address. We trawled theough the CLI document and found the relevant commands to do the switch of IP address. I have now used the WebGUI to set IP via DHCP so no matter which broadband router I use in the future it will work. I dont need all the management functions.

Hi @Martin521

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

If you are in standalone mode, go to Layer 3, Interface, and set this up. The VLAN 1 which is the default.

@Clive_A Thanks Clive for your reply. Unfortunately as I said I have a low level of IT skills and I didn't understand your reply.
I now have a USB - Console cable and would like to log in to the switch and change the default IP address from 192.168.0.1 to something else due to a clash with my new broadband router. I have Putty installed and beleive I can get in via that. Other than configuring the interface at 38400bps, 8 bits, parity none and 1 stop bit. I haven't a clue how to do it.
my switch is an early SG3210 JetStream L2 Lite management switch.
many thanks

Martin

The step is for the web GUI. If you are in the console, you should refer to the CLI User Guide. You can take a look at the product support page which usually shows the link to the CLI guide in a PDF version.
