Switch Frozen During Firmware Update
I use the Omada Controller F70B75 to manage my network. I tried to update the firmware of the above-mentioned switch to a new version (I think it was 1.20.x) and the switch is frozen.
I tried power cycling and it is still frozen.
What do I need to do to restore it to a functioning switch?

Hi @DocPMD
Thanks for posting in our business forum.
From what version did you upgrade to 1.20.X?
Are you upgrading from the first release of 1.20.0?
Controller type and version are also needed.
The upgrade may take a longer time than usual products.
I think there is nothing you can do for now, not sure what you tried. Try a reset and start over.
Or enter the CLI and you can recover an image.

It was at firmware version 1.0.0
Controller F70B75 just upgraded to most recent firmware
I contacted customer support on Friday and sent me link to directions to access the boot menu of the switch. I tried several times from my Mac using terminal and the screen command and either it didn't work at all, or I couldn't get the timing right to interrupt the normal boot to access the menu.
I was going to try a reset.
So I'm stuck.
"Or enter the CLI and you can recover an image" - I don't know what that means.
The switch shows disconnected on the controller and does not show up on the client list, so it is not communicating at all with the rest of the network.

Huh.. CLI is the abbreviation of the command line interface.
You should first consider resetting your device if it does not automatically get adopted back.
Try to read the User Guide at least. It is useful if you don't know that and it explains things before I explain every term and instruction.
It needs to be reset if it does not get back. Something might be wrong and I cannot comment or judge what might be the case as I am not you.
Based on the information, it looks like it lost its IP address. Firmware should not brick it anyway because the switch keeps the backup image. And never saw a switch became bricked. You can rest assured.
Reset it and let it boot up and log in to it or adopt it and then proceed with the manual upgrade by downloading the firmware. Start with the closest firmware. Don't skip to 1.20.X. Upgrade to its previous firmware and upgrade to 1.20.0. Then to the latest.

timing is everything when entering the bootutil menu with a usb cable to reset it
I found the following method most reliable and i can get it first time 90% of the time
Have your terminal or putty software ready, and plug the USB cable into switch and computer. In PC, you can use device manager to identify which COM port number its been given (no real way to tell otherwise)
Have putty pre-configured and ready with that particular port number ready to run.
Leave the cable plugged in.
Unplug switch from power.
Plugh switch back into power. WAIT 2 seconds. no more, no less
Connect with putty / terminal app
MASH CONTROL+B / COMMAND+B
The menu should pop up
