Hello,

Just a quick question.

In the specs, the ER8411 is defined as having a BW of +- 5Mbs in IPS and +-3.5Mbps in DPI.

Is there a degradation in performance when these 2 options are activated or are they really independent of each other?

Regards

David

Hi  @Cotchet

When DPI is enabled, the device will send the forwarded traffic to a professional local DPI engine for analysis, so as to judge and identify the type of traffic. When Logging Traffic is enabled, the device will collect and save the results of traffic analysis.

This will occupy some bandwidth. But won't affect normal Internet activities.

There is also a notice on the config page:

I am not seeing any performance issues at all on my combined 4gbit service using both on my 8411

Hello,

I understood that. It reduces the bandwidth to the level indicated in the specs.
The same applies to DPI.

My question was whether activating IPS and DPI at the same time would reduce the bandwidth by more than indicated in the specs (because of the HW for example).
