Hi everyone,

I'm having a problem with my TP-Link R470T+ v6.0 router. After performing a factory reset, I set a new admin password on the web interface, but it doesn’t seem to be saved. When I try to log in again, I get the error "Invalid username or password".

Additionally, if I restart the router, it brings me back to the initial "Create an Admin Password" page, as if the reset happens again every time.

I have already tried the following:

  • Using different browsers and clearing cache/cookies
  • Resetting the router manually by holding the reset button for 15 seconds
  • Ensuring I properly save the password before logging out
  • Updating the firmware (if available)

But the issue persists. It seems like the router is not saving any settings after a reboot.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Is this a firmware bug or a hardware issue? Any help would be appreciated!

So it was working fine before you reset it? It did not behave in that way before you reset it?

 

I suggest you try a different computer. Upgrade its firmware as well. Not sure if this is a problem with this computer which fails to set the password. It sounds really strange and untrue if it was working fine before but suddenly behaves so after you reset it last time.

 

If you have tried a different computer, it persists, it could be a problem with the system which seems to be corrupted. Consider buying a new router then. This model has been listed as EOL.

  • Checking for firmware updates, but since this model is EOL, there are no new versions available

Unfortunately, the problem persists. After every reboot, the router forgets the admin password and takes me back to the initial setup page.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Could this be a firmware corruption problem? Any possible workaround?

The old models do not support firmware recovery. It'd be strange if it was working fine but suddenly become faulty. At least, based on what you have tried, it seems to be corrupted in the firmware. The model has been EOL for a long time. I am afraid the RMA would not be possible now.

Consider getting a new model. New Omada series support firmware recovery. Unless you face a hardware issue, it rarely fails from the software level.
