Model: ER605 (TL-R605)
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 2.2.6

Ablity to shut down/disable one of the LAN ports would be a great benefit, another good use of this would be when you have found there is a loop back you can disable this port preventing the CPU on the device spiking causing device degradation. Currently the option to disable the port on the ER605 is greyed out although I imagine you can do this with the switches but on the gateway would be nice to have

If you need manual disable to the LAN, when it comes to a loop situation, it would be down. You should not be accessing the router directly and disabling the LAN is not possible.

This function is useless then.

@Clive_A The LAN port is still active and continuous DHCP requests are still made. Traffic still goes over the LAN port. I manage these via the CBC and can see traffic still flowing. Only requirement isnt just for loop back. The option is there on the CBC, however its grayed out. The feature isnt usless. Its disabled. Why not reenable it?

You can only change the port to WAN or LAN of the gateway. You cannot enable or disable the port of a router. It never supports this. What you read might be a function proprietary to the switch.

I don't understand what you mean by grey out. What does grey out?

@Clive_A Then if its not supported isnt that the idea of this forum to request the feature?

Then how do you expect us to implement it?

You don't really seem to follow.

First, I asked how you are gonna achieve this if the loop back happens, the connection to the router is not even accessible, how are you gonna disconnect the port?

Second, I am confirming this is not supported. You cannot disable a port from the router. It does not support in the past and now. Many of the option are listed due to other devices. The display mechanism still reads the device but this displayed function is only made for the targeted model.

@Clive_A The connection to the router is still active via the CBC the WAN does not go down. Other LAN ports are still active. I would disable it via the CBC.

If its not supported and you confirm this is not able to be enabled then we're at a stalemate.

I read the request pool the dev sent me earlier this week and saw one of the requests similar to this.

It simply allows you to enable/disable the port. But that's all. No STP or RSTP. Just allows you to modify the status of the interface. If that's what you are looking for.

We do not guarantee any other features with it. Description of that request is only about enabling/disabling the port.
