I purchased a single CPE710 wifi extender from Amazon to extend the wifi from the ferry house building to the beach approximately 1700 feet away. I figured since two of these could extend your wifi about 23 miles (38.25 km) then one of them should be able to extend your eifi only about 1700 feet or 1/3 of a mile. However, I am not able to get it to do that. I need to know if there are settings that I can use to make it send the wifi 1700 feet. We have no electricity at the beach so we cannot install a 2nd CPE710.

Hi  @gmsjcole

We have no electricity at the beach so we cannot install a 2nd CPE710.

>>>If so, CPE710 is not the correct product.

Why we need outdoor AP for both sides in long distance scenario?

Wireless communication is bidirectional, outdoor AP can transmit its signal to a very long distance, while it’s hard to tell how far your devices (Smartphone/ WLAN card/Soho wireless device, etc) can talk back. Even if your devices can see the SSID of your root outdoor AP, it doesn't necessarily mean they can communicate with AP well. The effective distance also depends on your devices. So we need at least one outdoor AP in each side to communicate with each other in long distance scenario..
