Connecting Other Buildings

Hi there can anyone help me with this problem.
I would like to connect my house and another out building to my network, both building have there own metered power supply. Therefore could i use two kits in each build and connect the two using a cat5e cable?
I have tried a wireless extender but the signal from the house is not strong enough.
Any ideas?
