New Feature - Virtual WANs, on adapted firmware 1.3.0 (ER8411) are not selectable when setting Bandwidth Controls or as the WAN for VPNs (server or client), and cannot be selected in gateway WAN IN acl's

 

They only appear selectable for policy routing.

 

 

Since virtual WANs are effectively an entirely seperate connection (with a seperate public IP) they should be ablke to be set for bandwith, vpn controls and gateway ACLs - otherwise, they seem rather pointless........ ?

 

In particular bandwidth control - if i can set a network policy routed to a virtual wan.....i should be able to enable bandwidth control on that virtual WAN !  Since i can only select the "real" wan, it doesnt work on policy routed networks!

Hi @GRL 

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

Either it is not supported at all, or this might need adaptation later on. I assume it is the latter. This feature is only available for pre-release. And the adaptation of the controller is required as well. Gonna be some time before you see a change on the controller and router side.

This isnt even pre-release any more

 

Controller 5.15.20.38 is now official, as is the ER7206 v2 firmware 2.2.0.   

 

I have tested this on both the 8411 pre-release firmware, and the 7206 official firmware which are both fully adapted.  Virtual WANs work, but have limited use if they cant be selected in VPNs, Bandwidth Control and ACLs.

 

Perhaps this will come in a future release.
