Hello everyone,

I have been trying to set up a VPN connection from my Omada network for weeks now. For some unknown reason, this is not working. Setup instructions e.g. Youtube do not work either.

My configuration: Netgear LB1110 LTE (configured as a modem), gateway ER605, switch TL-SG2428P, 2 EAP225 and the Omada software controller on a VM Proxmox container.

I have done the following:
- Gateway ACL TCP/UDP share WAN IP group to IP group
- first VLAN for all devices ....1.1 / 22
- second LAN for VPN with changed address range ....10.1 / 24 (for tests)
- DYN-DNS set up (works)
- DNS port forwarding 0.0.0.0/0 port 80 interface WAN to target IP port .....10.1:80
- DNS port forwarding 0.0.0.0/0 Port 1194 TCP interface WAN to destination IP port .....10.1:1194
- OpenVPN server port 1194 to both local networks, WAN IP pool ....10.1 /24
- VPN user with user name / password VPN server

--> OpenVPN export, changed file to domain name or public IP for test purposes. Import and test via Android app and mobile data.

The tunnel is not established. No data traffic visible with port forwarding status. What could I have overlooked?

It would be nice if someone could help me!
Greetings Ricky

Hi @Ricky_78

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

Maybe you don't have a public IP address for the VPN. Any VPN server requires a public IP address.

Hello Clive_A,

Thank you for your answer. After a long day and many considerations, I came to the same conclusion before your answer.
The modem does not issue a public IP but only a private IP from the class A address range. I will request a public IP from
my mobile provider today and hope that this will resolve the issue.

Thanks & greetings
Ricky
