Model: EAP225-Outdoor  
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.5.6

In my network I have 5 APs - 4xEAP615-Wall and 1xEAP225-Outdoor. Everything is working fine. In my Omada controller everything has the same settings and everything is shown as connected. But my outdoor unit ONLY is not allowing me to connect. Also it shows 0 up/down traffic even though I try to connect to it specifically (note that at the location of the outdoor AP there is no connection to any of the other 4 APs).

I've tried everything, varying the settings etc., and even factory resetting the AP physically as well as forgetting and re-adopting from Omada.

Is this a sign of a defective hardware?

  @Vincent-TP sorted just now.  I am no networking expert but with the help of ChatGPT I managed to narrow down the issue to the fact that my WiFi networks were set up with 6GHz enabled. All my other APs (EAP615) are able to handle that, but not the EAP225. So I had to create a separate SSID (with 6Hz disabled) just for the EAP225. Then it worked like a breeze.

I meant everything is working fine except for the outdoor AP.

Based on your description, the issue is most likely related to the Ethernet cable connected to the EAP225-Outdoor.

To isolate the problem:

  1. Test the cable:
    • Unplug the cable from the EAP225-Outdoor and connect it directly to a computer.
    • Check if the computer can obtain a network connection via the wired interface.
  2. Swap the cable:
    • Replace the current cable with a known-working one to verify if the issue persists.

Happy to hear that the EAP225-outdoor is working as expected now. 

 

Actually, none of your 4 EAPs support 6GHz. EAP615-wall doesn't support wifi6e.

The root cause is likely that the EAP225-Outdoor does not support the default encryption method when the 6GHz band is enabled.
