Model: EAP110-Outdoor
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.3.1

Hi All

hope you can help, I'm running a few eap610-outdoor v1 and v.1.2 all working great, i needed to get one more,

The problems is when i try to downgrade the firmware to EAP610-Outdoor_V1.0_V1.20_1.2.6 Build 20240312 which all my access points are running the unit just say failed to check for new update.

Can anyone help, are you able to downgrade your access point firmware? or is something wrong.

the things i have tried,

updating the firmware to the latest version ( this seemed to work with no issue,) but i'm still unable to downgrade still.

software resting the unit'

hard reset the unit ( using the reset pin ).

using different pc and tables etc.

setting the ip address to static and aswell as dynamic,

hope you can help

Adam

Hi  @Adamzsite

Compared to downgrade the firmware to the older one, I would recommend to upgrade all of your EAP units to the latest one. otherwise, you won't be able to use the most recent features. and normally, we will fix some know issues on old firmware via firmware updates.

The version 1.2.6 is kind of old.

Hi  @Adamzsite

May I know why do you need to downgrade thr EAP to that version?

Please share a screenshot of the error message page when the it poped up.

BTW, please make sure you were uploading the correct firmware.

  @Vincent-TP

Hi

Thank you for replying, I understand i should update. but its bugging me can you downgrade this hardware to version 1.2.6 from 1.3.1 or is something a miss, like setup / firewall setting stopping something talking to tplink, or a file signature or time stamp etc?

Again thank you for your time.

Adam

  @Adamzsite

Sometimes a firmware (whether user applied or form the factory) prevents the installation of any older versions as things like partitions, binaries, boot images might have changes and this is usually a one way thing.

There is no reason to run all APs on old firmware, you are best to update them all

Main: ER8411 x1, SG3428X x1, SG3452 x1, SG2428LP x1, SG3210 x1, SG2218P x1, SG2008P x3, ES208G x1, EAP650 x6 Remote: ER7206 v2 x1, ER605 v2 x3, SG2008P x2, EAP650 x2, ES205G x1 Controller: OC300

It's completely normal that downgrading isn't possible between versions with significant code differences. Let's not overthink this issue.
