I picked up a few EAP-235 (v1 US) explicitly because saw the EAP235-Wall(US)_V1_3.2.3 Build 20240815 firmware added 802.11k/v support, NTP time synchronization, Multicast/Broadcast Management, and support for the Lock to AP function.

A year after that firmware release, Canadians are left dry. We pay the same as everyone else for the same hardware, but don't get access to the same features.

@Tony236  The reason you get "Bad file" is because once a Canadian firmware (i.e [Custom], we don't even get our own label) is installed, you're screwed locked out of other regional firmware.

To my knowledge, you can't even boot the EAP235 into firmware recovery mode nor TFTP without serial access. All of this is despite the fact that the easily-overwritten region partition, rather than the firmware, appears to control the available radio bands (to be fair here, there are almost certainly other regulatory considerations I don't know about).

Anyway, your options are to wait for TP-Link to graciously permit you to use the advertised features available on hardware you own, install OpenWRT, or bust out a soldering gun for serial console access to be able to install firmware for other regions.
