Model: TL-R600VPN
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version: 4.0.4 Build 20200313 Rel.41831

I just had Fidium Fiber installed with my TL-R600VPN plugged directly into their ONT.  The router received one of their IP addresses, and everything looks good from their side, but nothing on my side can do much of anything.  I can't get to web pages or even run Speedtest.  Sometimes tracert works.  If I connect to the comcast router that is still running, everything works fine.

The reason for the question in the subject line is that I am getting strange results when using the diagnostics under system tools of the router to do Tracert and Ping - By the way, I have multiple WAN ports configured on the R600, with Fidium connected to WAN1 and Comcast connected to WAN2:

- ping of www.google.com via WAN 1 works fine

- ping of www.google.com via WAN 2 works fine

- Tracert to www.google.com via WAN 2 works fine

- Tracert to www.google.com via WAN 1 sends back either 10.10.10.10 or **** for every hop

So, Do Ping & Tracert from the router management interface bypass the firewall in the TL-R600VPN?  If so, then I think it is safe to say that there is something messed up on the Fidium side.  If not, then I suppose there could be something going on in the TL-R600 that is messing up my internet access, although I find it hard to believe that Comcast would work fine at the same time that I can't do pretty much anything with Fidium.

Thanks,

Tom

The problem ended up being with Fidium.  Tech Support was able to resolve the issue, and all is working as planned now.

Thanks for the response.

Hi @Tom_W_2277

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

R600 has ended its firmware support.

Ping and tracert on the WAN interface, the test would still use the NAT.

But it should have zero effect on the results.

Without any further information, I don't have a clue for a specific suggestion/recommendation.

You might wanna start with the basic network checks, like your subnets. Avoid overlapping subnets.

Seems to be something basic or a simple mistake that is missing out in the config/examination. Double-check with the help of a GPT or something. Or provide me with a diagram with IPs specified.
