Permit the controller to treat colons (":") like dashes when searching for a device by it's MAC address.

Context:

The controller displays MAC address using dashes ("-") ex: 34-60-F9-xx-xx-xx.

However, nearly every other devices displays MAC address using colons (":") ex: 34:60:F9:xx:xx:xx.

For instance, the CLI of Omada switches displays MAC addresses using colons (":").

It would be nice when using the controller to search for a device by MAC address if colons were accepted in addition to dashes.

Understand. We certainly appreciate all your feedback and feature requests here. While we don't have any specific details that I can share around if the feature can come to all the controllers, or when it might, I'll make sure to log this feature request and pass it along to the team.

Feel free to let us know of any other feature requests you may have, we’d be happy to send them up for you.

Thank you for your feedback. May I ask in what situations you typically search for a full MAC address in the controller interface?

For example, is it when searching for a specific device's logs in the log section? Personally, I usually only input the last few digits of the MAC address.

This information will help us better understand your needs. Thank you!

@Vincent-TP It's not about searching using the full MAC address, but about copying & pasting a full or partial MAC address.

The CLI of switchs and routers display the MAC address using colons. After pasting a MAC address into the search field of the controllor, all of the colons have to be replaced with dashes which is annoying.

Since the controllor displays MAC addresses using dashes I can understand why it expects dashes in MAC addresses when searching. However, nearly every other network device displays MAC addresses using dashes, it would be a very nice convenience feature for the Controller search function to treat dashes and colons as interchangeable when searching for a MAC address.
