ER703WP-4G-Outdoor as 4G wan backup with existing router

Hello
Can the ER703WP-4G-Outdoor be adopted into an existing router/controller setup as a backup / failover WAN?
We've already got a ER7212PC setup, so just need a 4G backup wan connection. Could we use ER703WP-4G-Outdoor for this?
How would this work - would we plug into WAN2 port (+poe injector), or a normal LAN port on the ER7212PC.
Ideally we would like to use the ER703WP-4G-Outdoor as an outdoor WIFI AP as well, would this work as well?
Or is the ER703WP-4G-Outdoor not really going to play nicley with the existing router/controller of the ER7212PC?

Hi @cosmo0000
Thanks for posting in our business forum.
You can create a new site on the ER7212PC to adopt it. One router per site. However, if you are using ER7212PC V1, it does not support a second router. ER7212PC has a limit for adopted(can control) devices.
It can supply Internet to the 7212PC, but they do not exist on the same site.
You might consider a different on-premise controller for the control of 703WP router.

@Clive_A
how about with an ER8411? Can I use the ER703WP-4G-Outdoor for dual purpose. as a Wifi AP, and when hardline fails, switch over to the ER703WP-4G-Outdoor as the router? I assume it's via VRRP? Or the failover mech is built in in the Omada suite?
If so, on the Layer 1 side, does it have to be connected to the ER8411 or it can be anywhere?

Not via VRRP.
You use it as a regular WAN.
VRRP exists in the same site that the router has to support, and configure routing to achieve that.
None of the Omada routers supports VRRP. L3 switch supports inter-LAN VRRP.
And you cannot host mesh with a device that is located at a different site. I assume. I have no experience with mesh as it is a feature with the AP.
I am saying you physically you link it to the ER8411, so, that's a yes.
