Issue with Locked to EAP when EAP is "Forgotten" (or would be for damaged AP also)
This is a somewhat esoteric situation but I discovered a bug –
If a WiFi device is locked to a specific EAP – but for whatever reason you decide to take that EAP out of the network – essentially in the EAP settings under “Manage Device” and click the “Forget” button – that WiFi device will not longer be able to connect to the network at all. Since that WiFi device is not on the network there is no way to go into it’s settings to remove the lock.
My workaround, I thought, would be to re-adopt the device but I ran into the hiccup that it could not be adopted because I was asked for the EAP device’s username and password… admin/admin did not work and neither did m y Omada SDN userid and password work either. I was only able to get it readopted by holding down the reset button. Even though it was reset, it was not truly reset because the lock was still there on the WiFi device settings with the mac address of the EAP. So I however was able to remove that lock and the WiFi device reconnected to the network.
So, in a nutshell I suggest:
- When “forgetting” the EAP, before it is actually forgotten the Omada SDN software should remove all the related WiFi device locks to that EAP.
- If an EAP breaks and can no longer function, there should be some way to remove the lock from the WiFi device that can no longer connect to the network…
