EAP653UR Stuck in Preconfigured (Cloud Controller)
Hello, newbie to the forum here.
I cannot figure this issue out and I wondered if anyone could help.
I am trying to adopt an EAP653UR onto my network, controlled by the Cloud Controller. I already have 3x 653 (non UR versions) adopted onto the same network but this fourth one will not configure and is stuck in Preconfigured state.
What I have tried:
- Factory resetting EAP
- Update firmware (only 1 firmware exists)
- Adding device via serial number
- Adding device via the Omada App
- Adding device via Inform URL
- Enabling Controller Management via tplinkeap.com
Omada seems to think that the access point is offline (it isn't as I can access the internet through it).
I'm using an Eero router (to be changed to an Omada one at some point), SG2210P switch.
I have followed this guide https://www.tp-link.com/nordic/support/faq/3387/ to the letter and searched through various forums. Some have had similar issues, but the fixes didn't work for me. E.g. https://www.reddit.com/r/TPLink_Omada/comments/1h951l0/eap_610_stuck_in_preconfigured/
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Could you please describe more when the cloud controller failed to adopt the EAP653 UR?
Will it display as Offline?
If yes, it indicate the EAP had no connection to the Internet. You can try:
change the Ethernet cable that connecting to it.
To distinguish if the EAP had internet access, you can go to its web interface and configure a test SSID for it. And connect to the test SSID, see if you could get internet access.

Hi @Vincent-TP
Thanks for your reply.
The AP does have internet access - I'm able to connect to its default SSID and use the internet as usual.
In a factory reset state, I try to add the device via the app (serial number) and it successfully adds it to my controller (but says it is offline, and consequently it remains in a preconfigured state). Can it be failing to be assigned an IP address?
I have also logged into the AP (tplinkeap.net) and enabled controller access and also defined the Inform URL, incase these additional steps are necessary.

Just to confirm, when you test the Internet access with EAP653 UR, did you turn off the mobile data on the phone?
The EAP653 UR is plugged into the same switch as the other three EAP653, right?
How many license fo you have? Do you have the forth license for the EAP653 UR?
Could you please share us some screenshots of the EAP653 UR's status on the controller?

Hi @Vincent-TP
Yes I can confirm that the access point does have an internet connection and yes it is plugged into the same switch as the other three access points.
I am using Cloud Essentials which I understood to be able to manage unlimited devices...is this not the case?
Here is a screenshot of the device list looks within the controller page.
Thanks again for your help - I really appreciate it.

Thanks for the info.
May I know the brand or model of the router you are using?
Is it possible to plug the EAP653 UR to a different network, such as your neighbor's network, and see if the same issue persists?
In the meantime, to further investigate the issue, we had create a support ticket for you, Please kindly check your email inbox, and the case ID is TKID250555352.

Hi @Vincent-TP
Thank you. The router is an Eero Pro 6. I am now using the 653 UR in a different building in standalone mode. To be honest I haven't tried adding it into the controller (I need to set up a separate controller as this building uses a different service provider.
Thank you for opening the support case. I will follow up on this but may be delayed a few days as we are currently moving house.
Thanks again for your help.

Update: I have redeployed the AP to a different site where it adopted without issue.
I don't need to add anymore APs to the original site, so although the issue didn't get solved, I don't need to solve it anymore.
Thanks to all for your help.
