EAP773 has been a nightmare - 6ghz issue
EAP773 has been a nightmare - 6ghz issue
I require help because I'm about to completely move away from TP Link if not.
I have an EAP773, using a 12v 5a power supply that I know is working because it has a solid blue LED light, so it's not a power issue.
The problem? The 6ghz band will keep disappearing until I turn off/on the actual SSID in Omada. There's probably another way to force it to show, but that's the way I've been doing.
I have three SSID's on it. A 2.4ghz one, 2.4ghz/5ghz/6ghz one and a 6ghz one - the 6ghz one is the only one that just straight up disappears.
Tx Power is set to medium, everything else on Auto, Non-PSC Channels is NOT checked.
I'm at a total loss here of what to do. It's super annoying to have to open the Omada app, click the AP, turn off the SSID/turn it on for it to suddenly show up for my devices to connect to.
Any/all suggestions are welcome please.

Thanks for posting here.
To check if the 6Ghz SSID stop broadcasting, please help us to test the following:
1. when the issue occurred, please use a wifi analyzer to scan all the avaliable SSID, and check if there is any SSID named TP_TX_VAP SSID;
2. After you recover the problem by manually disabling and then enabling 6G, roughly how long does it take for the problem to reoccur?
3. Did you enable OFDMA for the 6Ghz? (choose the EAP > Config > Advanced > 6GHz)

4. Do you use Omada controller? If yes, please go to the following controller page, run iwconfig command and share us the results.

@Vincent-TP Hi, thanks for the response.
1. I can see TP_TX_VAP at all times yes.
2. If I use the device, it typically works for the rest of that day then overnight it seems to turn off again or hours of not being used - it seems.
3. I did not, but tried enabling OFDMA for the 6ghz and still have the problem.
Please see the attached iwconfig results.

I have the same issue described by Mr @BatmanBatman
The only difference is that the EAP773 works fine up to 2-3 days, and then some mornings there is no WIFI AP to connect to, I check the device and it's ON, the blue light is there. After unplugging the device from the power source and then powering it up, the WIFI AP is again available for connection. It's frustrating to use it. I am already considering returning the device. I bought it mainly for the 6 GHz future, and I have enabled only 6 GHz WIFI.

Sorry to mentioned that this should be done when the SSID disappeared. Could you please confirm if the info was get when the issue happened? Thanks.
4. Do you use Omada controller? If yes, please go to the following controller page, run iwconfig command and share us the results.

Hi @ConstantinB
Sorry to hear that. We will try to locate the issue.
When the SSID disappears, would you please let us know the iwconfig result of your EAP?

Hi @Vincent-TP
I don't have the Omada Controller in my network and can't provide the iwconfig result. This AP is the only TP-Link product in my house. I have ordered another power supply and will give it one more chance. If it doesn't help, then I will return the product and look for alternatives, if any.

@Vincent-TP Hi, yes that command was run when the SSID disappeared.

Thank you for the confirmation. According to the info, the 6GHz SSID was broadcasting normally at that moment.
That's weird.
How many 6GHz supported clients do you have? When the issue happened, did you check all of them?
Would you please also tell us their brands, model names and OS versions?
When the SSID disappeared, did you try turn off wifi and turn it back on the phones? will this help?
When the SSID disappeared, can you see any other 6GHz SSID around on the phones? if yes, we may exclude this was caused by the phones.

Hi @ConstantinB
Thanks for trying.
We would also like to collect the same info from your side:

I have only 2 clients in the house that support 6 GHz

A Google Pixel 6 phone and my desktop computer with Windows 11. The PC uses "MSI Herald-BE WI-FI 7 MAX" adapter to connect to the SSID. Also tried "
TP-Link Wi-Fi 7 BE9300 PCIe WiFi Card" and the result was the same, because I had no idea where the problem was. So I have tried as many options as possible until I blamed the EAP773 for all the issues.
When the SSID disappeared, did you try turn off wifi and turn it back on the phones? will this help?
This does not help; the only thing that helped was to power off EAP773, then power it back on, and the SSID was listed again.

When the SSID disappears, the phone falls back to 5 G. It's when I used the PC I have noticed that the SSID is disappearing and I have no internet.
