Dear all,

 

we have more than 50 switches consists of SX3016F, SX3008F, SG3428X, SG3210XHP-M2. When a loop occurred in one place, it blocks all the uplink ports on all the switches. we are using Omada Software Controller (5.15.8.2) on an IBM Server.

 

We have tried all the settings in  Loopback Control like STP, RSTP, Port based settings, it is very difficult find the exact loop where it occurred.

Please help me find a solution.

Yes, it is an educational institution. some times students or teachers mistakenly connect both ends of the ethernet patch cable in the outlets and causing loop. it is very difficult to identify point out location to remove the loop. we have to check each and every location manually.

Not always, but when it happens, entire network having problem of restarting every uplink port.

Is there any change to the physical link?

Do you notice any wire connection follows a loop detection?

You should be able to use rSTP to help you find the port that the loop originates from

 

Not only do you enable rSTP in the switch config area, but you also need to enable it in the port profiles as well, otherwise it doesnt take effect

 

 

Once rSTP is properly set on the switches and port profiles, it should identify at least one of the ports in the loop
