Hi there!

So, I got this device recommended by a hardware/netwerk store. Since my wifi stops working on the first and second floor. I can't seem to get it to work. First I thought the problem was with the RJ45 connectors that I had to install myself. But now I figured that I'm probably doing something wrong with the installation. I'm a big noob if it comes to netwerksetting and everything that comes with it. So technical language will be difficult. I do know how to get into my Zyxel network through the IP address.

I have a Zyxel EX5601-T1 modem. I connected the AP with a shorter, excisting cable to one of the LAN ports. The light stays blue. The installation app Omada (which i installed from the 1 page manual that was included..) doesnt reconize the AP. Also, i see 2 networks popping up 2.4G and 5G. But can't connect to it. One pop-up says "can't connect" and one pop-up says: "made connection but cant connect to the internet".

How do I get this to work? I'm considering selling the thing because it feels like a 130,- waste. But I actually think i'm lacking...
I have a macbook pro. So if i need to do anything on my computer, Windows instructions wont work.

Any help is welcome!

Hi  @Mieskoek

Did you check with different clients? Are all clients can't get Internet from the EAP?

If possible, please test with another Ethernet cable.

if none of the above helps, you may contact your retailer to check the warranty.

Hi  @Mieskoek

Thanks for posting here. EAP units are plug-and-play, no need much network techs.

If you get no internet access from the EAP, please firstly confirm the main Router(Zyxel EX5601-T1 modem in your case) is working fine. Then check the points below and see if it helps:
    1. Ensure the EAP is hardwired to the router via an Ethernet LAN cable, use a standard CAT5 above cable for the connection. Usually, we can see a corresponding LED light up on the Router.
    2. Test the EAP's SSID with other wireless clients, eliminate the issue is from a specific client.
    3. Check the IP info on the wireless clients. To access the Internet, the clients need to get Default Gateway (Router) and DNS Server from your network through the EAP.
    4. Unplug the EAP, and connect a PC instead to the Router with the same Ethernet cable, check the IP info obtained on the PC and confirm it can get internet access.
    5. Reset the EAP: with the EAP powered on, use a pin to press and hold the reset hole for about 8 seconds until the LED flashes green-red-yellow to factory default settings.
    6. Repeat step 1)-4) if you still get no Internet access from the EAP, this is a detailed FAQ for more troubleshooting tips:

What to do if your client cannot obtain an IP address after connecting to the EAP's Wi-Fi

If the issue still persists, please contact TP-Link support with the result of the above troubleshooting steps.

@Vincent-TP Hi Vincent! Thank you for your response! laugh Other devices reconize the 2.4Ghz and 5GHz networks from the EAP. I also bought a network cable tester, and the cables that i'm using work fine (was doubting this because of all the problems). I also did multiple resets of my EAP. Didn't change anything unfortunately.. My computer gets internet access like you mentioned. I really really.. have no clue what to do further. I can't seem to get into the online webinterface of the EAP.
