Model: EAP225-Outdoor
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 5.1.11

I have two EAP225 configured through the Omada app using a cloud controller.

Been using both without issues for a few months now but I've started to notice my iPhone drops internet connection but stays connected to the AP. Happens on both mine and my partners at the same time. When I turn off my wifi and back on it connects and works again

I've not changed any settings on the app from when I set it up and I've always just used all the default settings.

Hi  @N17

Thanks for your posting. To understand the issue better, please let us know the following info:
1. How often will the disconnection issue happen?
2. When the issue happened, will the SSID disappear, or still show on the wifi list?
3. How will the connection be recovered? Will it be recovered automatically, or will a reboot be required?
4. When the issue happened, would all wireless clients lose internet connection simultaneously, or would some clients still be working?
5. What's the IP address of the clients when the issue happened? Still correct IP, or 169.254.x.x?

In the meantime, you may refer to the following guide to do some optimization:

How to optimize wireless performance of EAP products

 Thank you for your reply.

1. How often will the disconnection issue happen? - It happens 5-6 times a day.

2. When the issue happened, will the SSID disappear, or still show on the wifi list? - It still shows

3. How will the connection be recovered? Will it be recovered automatically, or will a reboot be required? - it does receover automatically but can take 30 mins, if i disconnect and reconnect wifi it works instantly.

4. When the issue happened, would all wireless clients lose internet connection simultaneously, or would some clients still be working? - Only seems to be the iPhones.

5. What's the IP address of the clients when the issue happened? Still correct IP, or 169.254.x.x? - IP is still correct.

Are my AP's set up correctly? the picture i sent makes it appear like one is connected to the other, is that normal?

Hi  @N17

Are my AP's set up correctly? the picture i sent makes it appear like one is connected to the other, is that normal?

>>>How are the two EAP units connected to the network? Are they both plugged into the router? If yes, it's not normal. You may reboot the second EAP to have a try.

Now that the iPhone still keep the correct IP addresses, we need to know on which steps did they be stucked.

To check it, please run some ping tests on the wireless clients separately:

How to use the Ping command

1. Ping the connecting EAP's IP address;

2. Ping the router's LAN IP address;

3. Ping the gateway IP address;

4. Ping a public IP address, such as 8.8.8.8;

5. Ping a public webiste, such as google.com.

Please let us know the ping results.

Note: please mention me in the future replies.

I’ve experienced the same issues with my iPhone 15 Pro. My network topology is similar, except that I’m using two EAP615-Wall units, which are connected in series. Both the Software Controller and the firmware of my EAP615-Wall devices are up to date. On the iPhone, there is an option to use a private Wi-Fi address. There are three possible settings: Off, Static, and Rotating. I’ve set it to Static, since in my opinion it doesn’t make a difference—the MAC address simply remains unchanged. Have you already found a solution to your problem, or does it still persist?

  @N17 i Disabled WPA3 ( back to WPA2)  and rollback the latest beta firmware and all my ios devices stopped the connection drop on an EAP610 setup, hope it works in your case.

  @CyberSec

Thanks for your reply. I’m no longer using WPA3, since I’m using PPSK without Radius. So I’m already on WPA2.
I’m running the current 1.5.4 Build 20250515 Rel. 67108 on my EAP615-Wall, but the issue still persists.

Any other ideas?

Hi  @AnthonyStark

Does this only happens on that iPhone?

When the iPhone have no internet, did it keep the wifi connection? or it was disconnected from the wifi network?

How can you recover the connection? Do you need to turn off/ on the wifi?

Please also share a screenshot of the wifi settings on the controller.
