Controller GEo Cluster

Hi,
The docu for clusters (distributed and hot standby) talk about having any node on the local subnet. Is this a strict requirements? What about having geo cluster, two nodes at the HQ and one other place (100miles) factory? Will this work? Sites are connected with sitie2site VPN.
any input is appreciated
cheers

Hi @JayinNZ
Thanks for posting here.
This feature is not applicable in this scenario. In a cluster setup, all controllers within the system should theoretically have identical configurations.
However, if controllers are installed at different sites, their corresponding VPN configurations will necessarily differ. For example, Site A's remote subnet would be Site B's local subnet.
If you want this feature, I recommend:
- Using one controller to manage all three sites
- Installing the other two controllers at the same site to configure Cluster feature.

Thank you for the explanation. I was think thinking geo redundancy could be more metropolitan or just WAN. Just to increase resilience between to local data centres.

Hi @JayinNZ
I believe this is primarily to prevent administrators from losing management and monitoring the SDN devices.
