Hello TP‑Link Team and Community,

I would like to request an enhancement to the voucher system on the OC200 / Omada Controller platform.

**Feature Requested:**
Add an option to allow the **validity countdown (e.g., 15 days)** to begin **only upon the client’s first successful connection**, not when the voucher is generated. Usage time should remain separate and function as usual.

**Example Scenario:**
- Voucher generated on August 1
- Client connects for the first time on August 10
- Voucher expires on August 25 (15 days after first use), regardless of remaining usage time

This feature differs from existing behaviors:
1. **Validity countdown starts from creation** – may expire even if unused
2. **Usage time only countdown** – may remain valid long after generation if not fully used
3. Requested: **Validity starts on first use**, offering "windowed access" regardless of generation date

**Suggested Implementation:**
Add a new toggle option in voucher creation:
- Start Validity: **From Creation** / **From First Use**

This would be useful in real-world scenarios such as promotions, rentals, and event-based access.

Thank you for considering this request! Looking forward to this enhancement in future firmware updates.

Best regards,
Untone25

Hi  @Untone25

Thanks for posting here.

Normally, vouchers start counting their validity period from the first use (as shown below).

Is yours different? Could you please:

  1. Share a screenshot of your voucher settings
  2. Explain your specific situation

Hi  @Vincent-TP , team

Thank you for the response!

To clarify, I'm specifically referring to the voucher's validity countdown, not the usage time.

Current Behavior (see attached screenshot):

As shown in the screenshot, the voucher is configured with:

  • Validity: Sept 1 to Sept 16 (15 days)

  • Duration: 8 hours (by usage)

  • Type: Voucher Duration

Even if the client never connects, this voucher will expire on Sept 16.

What I’m requesting as a feature enhancement:
An option to make the validity countdown start on the client’s first successful connection, instead of using fixed Dates

Use Case Example:

  • I generate a 15-day valid voucher on August 1

  • Client connects for the first time on August 10

  • With current behavior, it would expire on August 16

  • But ideally, it should expire 15 days from first use (i.e., August 25)

Thank you again! I hope this explanation and screenshot help clarify the enhancement request. Looking forward to your feedback and hoping this can be added in a future Omada update.

Best regards,
Untone25

Yes, some time ago i asked for something similar in this request: https://community.tp-link.com/en/business/forum/topic/742610 Apparently the authentication options need a rework with real flexible options!
