Model: Archer BE230
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.2.1 Build 20250804 rel.79639(5553)

Hello,

I purchased the subject wireless router a few months ago and have paired it with both an Omada ER605 (VPN router/firewall) and OPNSense as a firewall.  Both have the same issue when using the subject router as an access point.

I have set the operation mode of the subject router (under advanced settings) to access point mode and I'm only using the LAN ports as described.

The VPN router is upstream and performs DHCP, multiple wireguard connections, and dns.  The subject router (now an access point) has less than 10 clients connected to it.

I've turned off DCHP on the subject access point, assigned it a static IP, turned off both flow controllers in the network tab, and have every single guest network turned off.  I've stripped most services from it and it still panics and drops all devices.

And when I say "panic" I assume kernel panic, because all log entries delete themselves and I'm left with year 1970 logs.

The best way I've got it to perform as an access point is to allow ONLY the 5ghz band and turn off everything (smart connect is off, OFDMA/MU-MIMO is off, TWT is off), but that leaves me with very little bandwidth.

Any suggestions? - I've been trying to fix it and educate myself for a few weeks on this topic now but I'm starting to feel like it's a hardware issue.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

  @DreamsMoney

" And when I say "panic" I assume kernel panic, because all log entries delete themselves and I'm left with year 1970 logs. "

That means BE230 restarts itself and gets its correct time setting from the NTP server later.

This is not normal device behaviour, since in AP mode most of the device services are not available (also its DHCP should be disabled) - details.

This could be also a device hardware issue - it's best to contact your local support for further assistance.

  @Yesrab Hello.  Good day, afternoon, or evening.  Unfortunately the firmware isn't down gradable, though I do notice a note in the firmware patch notes that they "Added kill switch" in the version I'm on.
