Model: ER605 (TL-R605)
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 2.3.0 Build 20250428

Since I use the ER605 a lot of websites start loading after a long while or not at all.

When the do load everything is fine.

I thought that it could be a DNS problem, so I tried using another DNS

That didn't help.

The ER605 is behind my provider's (Ziggo) modem-router

I thought maybe nat behind nat is a problem, so I put the provider's modem-router in bridge mode.

That didn't help.

1. Anything else I could do?

Someone suggested the IDS/IPS could be a problem.

But I cannot find that in my Network Security.

It should be there.

2. How can I find it?

My setup:

Ziggo cablemodem-router
In bridge mode

TP-Link Omada router
ER605 v2.20
Firmware 2.3.0 Build 20250428

Zyxel POE switch
GS1200-8HP v2
Firmware V2.00(ABMF.1)C0

TP-Link Omada AP
EAP615-Wall(EU) v1.0
Firmware 1.5.4 Build 20250515 Rel.67108

TP-Link Omada software controller
5.15.24.19
In Docker container op Synology NAS

  @PeterDutch

Thank you for your post. Please test whether the same issue occurs when you connect your PC directly to the modem-router; if it does, the limitation may be on your ISP’s side.
You can also experiment with the MTU—try raising or lowering it to see if that resolves the problem.
Additionally, IDS and IPS are other settings you can adjust; check the path:
Select a site from the drop-down list of Organization. Go to Settings > Network Security > IDS/IPS.

  @Ethan-TP

Thanks for your response.

It doesn't occur when my PC is directly connected to the modem-router.

It also doesn't happen when I use an old TP-Link router.

So I conclude it has something to do with my (proudly new) Omada setup.

I will take your advise and experiment with raising or lowering the MTU.

However, I checked it earlier and it should be ok, therefore I did not test it with different values.

So I will do that.

And what I really would like to do is adjusting IDS and IPS settings, but I can's find them:
Using my site from the drop-down list of Organization and going to Settings > Network Security I only have these options:

ACL, URL filtering, MAC filtering, Attack Defense, Firewall, IP-MAC Binding, Application Control.

There is no IDS/IPS.

Is that right, because I thought the ER605 v2 should have it.

Greets,

Peter

  @PeterDutch

My apologies for the oversight—this model does not have IDS or IPS settings.
Try adjusting the MTU first; if the issue persists, you may need to capture packets while visiting the site to analyze why it loads slowly.

Here is a guide for reference:How to capture packets using Wireshark on SMB router or switch
